What is expected in the answer?
Outline and explain requires students to identify two distinct ways gender may produce differences in the use of health care and explain the process involved. For 10 marks, two developed paragraphs are normally sufficient. Students should focus on use of health care, rather than writing a general answer about why men's and women's health chances differ.
AQA's 2024 examiner report noted that gender role socialisation could be developed through differences in willingness to seek medical help, while employment and caring responsibilities could also affect whether people have time or opportunities to use health services.
