Examine the differences between political globalisation and cultural globalisation.

(12 marks)

Students need to make direct comparisons between the political and cultural dimensions of globalisation, rather than write one paragraph defining political globalisation followed by another defining cultural globalisation. The specification treats globalisation as a complex web of interconnectedness involving countries, institutions, culture, technology and politics, and explicitly identifies political globalisation, cultural globalisation, homogenisation and monoculture as relevant terminology.

Indicative content

Students may demonstrate knowledge and understanding such as:

  • Political globalisation concerns the increasing political connections and relationships operating across national boundaries.

  • Cultural globalisation concerns increasing cultural interconnectedness across national boundaries.
